Columbus State University's Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians has an official website at

http://www.mccullerscenter.org

where you'll find the mission statement, fellowship application materials, detailed information about McCullers' life and work, and information about how you can donate to the McCullers Center. This blog, though, is intended to give you a more casual report of day-to-day goings-on at CSU's Carson McCullers Center.

I saw Suzanne Vega In Carson McCullers Talks About Love last Friday! Very beautiful songs and wry storytelling. She doesn't really attempt a Carson accent though...

  2. She previewed it here in Columbus in mid-February, Bill, as you probably know. We're the "hard core fanatics" she mentioned in the article -- ha! Most of the Columbus folks I heard from after the performance were relieved that Vega did not attempt to sound like Carson. Southern accents so often so botched that we'd rather not hear one than to hear a badly executed one. Everybody seemed to respect Vega for not even tryin' it.
